Released in July 1986, on the 10th anniversary of Tamiya’s first RC, the Bigwig was a landmark in the development of Tamiya RC racing cars and remains highly prized as a collectors’ car for its unique design. This was the first Tamiya car with a body penned by an outside designer: Japanese full size race car designer and team owner Takuya Yura. This re-release version is based closely upon the original, with some tweaks to bring it up to date. This unique car featured a rack and pinion steering system and distinctive Moon Dish wheels. The body styling was innovative, and as all Tamiya kits were, easy to build and good value for money.

Well done Tamiya, for the bigwig it brought back great memories with it's rack style steering giving you very precise movement and it's sleek lines it brought the fun back into racing around
by ldavies17012Fantastic kit, great to see Tamiya re releasing Icons.
by darylAlways wanted one of these as a child! I remember gazing at the box at my local model shop. Now in my early 40's I have finally got my hands on one. The build is fantastic!! Just make sure you check and check again what parts are required by the manual. If you do then you should have no problems at all. The car is rock solid in a straight line with none of the 'slop' in the steering that you get with cars. The painting is not as complicated as it sounds if you follow the instructions. AWESOME.
by ChrisTI was really looking forward to the rerelease of the Bigwig. For me, it was nostalgia. In the 80's, Dad unfortunatley couldn't afford to buy me one, something I could only look at on the Beatties shelf. The construction is nothing I've ever experianced before in 1/10 scale, I would of found it difficult to build this in the 80's on my own, aged 12. Even the shell isn't a straight forward cut & paint. A very complex build and thoroughly enjoyable. Goes pretty well off the mark too.
